We had so much fun on today’s episode! This show is a replay of an Instagram Live I presented with my dear friend, Lana Hailemariam. We had an enlightening, yet highly entertaining, conversation about menopause, a topic that is often shrouded in mystery and misconceptions.

Lana, although not yet experiencing menopause, found our discussion and my book, "Is It Hot in Here or Is It Just Me? Seven Steps to Dramatically Decrease Your Hot Flashes," incredibly helpful and I think you will as well! Don’t forget to grab your copy after listening today!

A Book for Every Woman

I wrote this book not only for women going through menopause, but also for younger women who can benefit from understanding the symptoms and how to alleviate them. As Lana points out, this book goes beyond simply telling you what to do. It also shows, explains, provides examples, and offers step-by-step instructions on how to make this time of your life much more manageable.

I went through menopause at the age of 47 due to a hysterectomy, which made me realize the importance of advocating for oneself when it comes to understanding one's body. Lana echoed this sentiment, highlighting the challenges women, especially black women, often face in getting their doctors to listen to them and acknowledge their pain.

Boost Hydration and Reduce Sugar Intake for a Balanced Approach

We all know water is important, but why? With constipation being a side effect of menopause, hydrating adequately is a key factor to keeping yourself regular. Michelle tells us exactly how to calculate the amount of water required for our own bodies.

Sugar is also known to have a negative impact on how your body responds to menopause, but did you know, the addictive qualities of sugar can be stronger than that of cocaine? Give yourself compassion, take it one day at a time, and make small changes to decrease your sugar intake. You’ll be proud of what you can accomplish!

Beneficial Changes and Final Thoughts

Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Just Me? Seven Steps to Dramatically Decrease Your Hot Flashes is your personal step-by-step manual for all things menopause. Once you grab your copy, you’ll be able to reference it at any time to get the answers you may not even know you were looking for! Remember, whether you're experiencing menopause or not, knowledge is power, and understanding your body is the first step towards better health.
